UPSem is now accepting applications for Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 for Domestic Applicants.

You will not be able to access your application after it has been submitted. If you have already submitted your application, PLEASE CLICK HERE to access your applicant portal. There is no application fee.


Union Presbyterian Seminary has campuses in both Richmond and Charlotte. If you have not spoken to an admissions director regarding your interest in seminary, it is highly encouraged that you speak to Rev. Annie Franklin Arvin (Richmond) or Ashlee Anderson (Charlotte) prior to beginning your application. Please email admissions@upsem.edu for more information.


Domestic Applicants

Deadlines:

  • February 1: Th.M. (only available in Richmond)
  • March 15: Doctor of Ministry {The DMin program alternates campuses. The Fall 2024 cohort will be based in Richmond}
  • June 1: Scholarship deadline for M.Div., M.A. in Christian Education, and M.A. in Public Theology
  • July 1: final deadline for M.Div, M.A. in Christian Education, and M.A. in Public Theology
  • August 15: Limited Enrollment and Certificate deadline for Fall classes
  • November 15: Limited Enrollment and Certificate deadline for Spring classes

Additional Materials:

In addition to this application, you will need to submit the following application materials as instructed on the UPSEM Apply Now page.
  • Criminal Background check
  • Personal Disclosure Statement: An email with a link to complete the personal disclosure statement will be sent after the submission of the online application. 
  • Official Undergraduate and Graduate school transcripts

International Applicants

International applicants requiring an F-1 visa are only eligible to apply to the Richmond campus. International applicants can ONLY apply to the M.Div., MACE, M.Div./MACE Dual Degrees program, and the Th.M. program. Online Applications are due on December 1st. All supplemental materials (TOEFL scores, official transcripts, references) are due on February 1st.

If you would like to request a TOEFL waiver, please contact the Richmond Director of Admissions, Annie Franklin Arvin . Complete applications need to be submitted by November 1st to be considered for a TOEFL Waiver.
