Presbyterian Polity (PRMN110)


Course Memo

This course is designed for students who plan to serve as ordained ministers in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Polity and administration are integral to functioning effectively as a pastor, both in the local congregation and throughout the governing bodies of the church. This course deals with the biblical, historical, and theological bases of church polity and administration, as well as theoretical and practical dimensions. Particular emphasis is placed upon governance and worship issues related to preparation for the ordination examinations in church polity and the sacraments.

The PRMN110 R section for Richmond students will meet face to face according to the schedule in SONIS.

The PRMN110 C section for Charlotte students will meet as follows:

  • For the Thursday evening section: Charlotte students' Zoom sessions: Jan 13, Jan 20, Jan 27, Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 17, Mar 3, Mar 10, Mar 17, Mar 24, Mar 31, Apr 7.
  • For the Thursday evening session: Charlotte students' Face to face sessions in Charlotte will be February 10 and March 10, 2022.

The PRMN110 C-01 section meets synchronously online on Saturdays from 1:30 - 4:30 pm. The two bullets above do not apply to students registered for PRMN110 C-01 that meets only on Saturdays.
