Enslavement, Race/Ethnicity, Caste (DMIN516-CW)
(01/06/2023-04/01/2023)
Course Memo
In Scripture and throughout Christian history, our ancestors have struggled to construct a faith in contexts of oppression. Experiences of enslavement and slave-holding, of ethnic and racial logics, and of hierarchical caste systems fractured and continue to fracture our Christian communities. This course will explore Scripture, primary texts, archaeology, modern and contemporary scholars, and experiential contexts in order to understand our problematic past and the continued traumas of the present global world. Students will construct practical projects that express their learning.
